Historic Earlewood Neighborhood - Street Sign for Historic Neighborhood

Earlewood attracts people who are looking for the best of many worlds – the tranquility and character of an historic neighborhood with the proximity to urban amenities. It is a century-old neighborhood of tree-lined streets and Craftsman bungalows that bubbles with the vibrancy of young professionals and new families. History

In 1910, more than 100 acres of farmland were transformed into Columbia’s newest “suburb," Camp Fornance, now known as Earlewood. Read More >

Architectural styles of the past hundred and fifty years—farm houses, two-story Victorians, craftsman bungalows, brick Shandon-style, ranches and new homes—are found in the neighborhood. Historic Protection Area

In 2005, Earlewood joined other Historically significant neighborhoods of the city to become a design protection area. This important designation will help to ensure that our neighborhood maintains its current charm, and it will continue to prosper as a successful residential community. Read More >

National Register Designation

The City of Columbia Planning Department and ECCO will pursue a National Register of Historic Places district designation for Earlewood. Listing on the National Register would positively impact the neighborhood by allowing qualifying property owners to take advantage of tax incentives when they improve their historic properties.
