Garbage, Trash & Recycling Pickup

Most Earlewood homes are in the City of Columbia, but a small number of properties in the neighborhood are considered to be within unincorporated Richland County. See below for information about trash pickup for City and County residents.

  • Garbage and recycling collection is on Tuesday.

  • There are ordinances as to how long your roll cart garbage container can be on the curb. Roll carts may be set out the night before scheduled day of collection. They must be removed from the curb no later than 7:30 PM on the day of collection.
  • If you need a new roll cart garbage container or a recycling bin, contact 545-3800.
  • Large trash pick-up is each Monday. Ordinance requires homeowners to separate their vegetation (yard trash) from other debris such as broken lawn equipment, old furniture, broken down cardboard boxes, etc.

The city also has a two drop off location for recyclables:

  • 2600 Bull Street, located behind DHEC, accepts the same items as our curbside program
  • Corner of Washington and Wayne Streets (@Congaree Vista), accepts flattened cardboard, glass, plastic, aluminum, newspaper and office paper

Click here to view the list of what items are accepted for recycling and other trash collection information.
